Celeste Caswell, CEO/Founder

Celeste's Best founder/owner is Celeste Caswell, a resident of Austin, TX. Ms.Caswell has been active in the vegetarian community of central Texas for 18 years and noticed a need that wasn't being fulfilled in the vegetarian food market. While there were an increasing number of vegetarian specialty products being marketed, almost all were specifically focused on being healthy, seemingly at the expense of taste. Ms.Caswell realized that most of the vegans/vegetarians she knew had chosen to abstain from animal products because of ethical or environmental, not because they thought that food made with animal products didn't taste good.

Ms.Caswell also thought of people who, like herself, had grown up eating the standard American diet (including occasional 'junk' food), but had since changed their diets. Whether it be because they became vegan/vegetarian, or developed allergies to eggs or lactose, or because they were watching their cholesterol intake, these people appreciate the familiar foods from their youth without the feeling of deprivation that many health-food alternatives leave behind.

Celeste's Best Vegan Recipes is a small business that has found phenomenal success in Austin since July of 2002. Word spread quickly and soon Celeste's Best products were selling out at coffee shops. Then people began to place direct orders for cakes for birthdays, baby showers, anniversaries, and even weddings! The purpose of marketing Celeste's Best Vegan Recipes to grocery stores is to make available a dairy-free alternative of traditional cake/pastry mixes that are just as convenient, affordable, and most of all, delicious as their non-vegan counterparts.
